The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) issued a statement on Sunday, stating that they have conducted raids on numerous warehouses and stores across various cities in recent days. Law enforcement agencies have confiscated substantial amounts of goods during these operations.

After increasing the federal excise duty (FED) on cigarettes, reports indicated a notable rise in cigarette smuggling. Customs teams in various cities have discovered warehouses where smuggled cigarettes are stored before being distributed to shops for sale.

Law enforcement agencies have successfully conducted several proactive raids over the course of the past two days, with plans for additional operations in the near future, as mentioned in an official statement. These targeted efforts have resulted in the seizure of significant quantities of foreign-brand cigarettes.

According to the statement released by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). The current estimated value of the confiscated cigarettes stands at an impressive Rs. 33.6 million.
