Member of the IT Ministry stated that the Ministry is also creating a Policy Committee. Also, this will oversee the process of consulting on policies and completing the draft of the National AI Policy.

The Policy Committee will consist of industry, academia, and government experts. The ministry urges outstanding AI experts from both the industry and academia to join this Policy Committee. Experts who are interested in being part of the policy committee can send their interest to the ministry along with their profile.

The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has recently created the first version of the National Artificial Intelligence Policy. And, published it on the ministry’s website. The MoITT is requesting input on the policy from businesses, educational institutions, and the general public before June 16, 2023.

As per the first draft of the AI policy, the government plans to educate 1 million IT graduates in Artificial Intelligence. And related technologies by 2027. The government will develop a long-term plan to produce 10,000 new trainers. They will provide effective education in high-impact AI and related technologies. The national government will launch a countrywide awareness campaign, and funds will be allocated for AI initiatives. Additionally, Centers of Excellence in AI will be established to support the development of AI in the country.
